SchoolProof

About SchoolProof

Why this exists

Martyn's Law asks schools to do something no school has spare capacity for: assess a new kind of risk, write four new procedures, prove every member of staff knows them, and keep the evidence inspection-ready, every year. We build software that does the organising, so school leaders can do the leading.

But "compliance software" is a dry phrase for what this is really about. Behind the law is a simple hope: that if the worst five minutes ever arrive at a school, the adults in the building know what to do. Procedures that have actually been read, not filed. Drills that have actually been run. A supply teacher who knows the lockdown signal because someone made sure of it. SchoolProof exists to make that preparedness real, and provable, in ordinary schools with no security team and no spare hours. The paperwork is just how we get there.

The Act is named after Martyn Hett, one of the 22 people killed in the Manchester Arena attack in 2017.

Who we are

We are a UK team combining software engineering with serving school leadership. Our question sets, plans and reports are written and reviewed with a practising headteacher, checked against the Home Office statutory guidance and the Department for Education's guidance for education settings, and tested in real schools before release.

What we believe

Compliance tools for schools should be written in school language, priced for school budgets, and honest about what they are: support for the responsible person's judgement, not a replacement for it. SchoolProof is guidance and record-keeping, not legal advice, and we never imply endorsement by the DfE, the Home Office or the SIA.

Where your data lives

All data is held in the United Kingdom (Microsoft Azure, UK South), and our privacy notice explains exactly what we collect and why. Every action in the platform is recorded in an append-only audit trail, because for compliance software, the evidence is the product.
